What's So Great About Gatsby

Man oh man, I'll admit it, The Great Gatsby is pretty damn good, not a masterpiece in my opinion but I am pretty invested in unraveling what it all means
All in all, I believe that Gatsby was a great character he had it all, the looks, the spice, the everything nice besides that one person he longed for. The moment he had his eyes on her, he was doomed to be in this tragedy, for he could not help it.

CUE THEME MUSIC

loving with my all
time never stops and goes on
wish I could go back
             - haiku or something

The Great Gatsby is something like about how cruel things are or something, we can't change our past, people we love move on, time doesn't stand still, we can't go back, much too our dismay, much to our displeasure, much to hope, much to our love. We can never a year back, a decade, a century, a millennium for the clock ticks and it ticks and it ticks and it ticks and it ticks, so on and so forth. Hiding behind money, behind the matters of the flesh, behind our lies, the worlds that we've built. It all amounts to nothing, remember the past, yet don't dwell on it, focus on the present, dream of the future, or something, for we could never beat the great tidal wave

The Great Gatsby pages: 171-189

The ending of the book is nothing more than a tragedy
No one comes to Gatsby's funeral
"Blessed are the men for which the rain falls upon"
People made lousy excuses for not being able to go
Gatsby's past was behind him from a long time ago, the green light was
Nick sees Tom again and comes to the conclusion that he's talking to a child
“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”
Nick raps things up with Jordan Baker
Nick indulges in himself believing to be an honest person
"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." just means that no matter how hard we try, we can't beat the greater current of the great ocean and are just along for the ride on our boats

The Great Gatsby pages: 103-118

Laudable initiative, Gatsby wanted to see Daisy because he made plans with her
Jay Gatsby is not his real name, it's James Gatz
James Gatz is who Jay is, Jay Gatsby is a persona (who James wants to be)
meretricious - apparently attractive but in reality having no worth or integrity
pressure to feel himself, to be Gatsby in his bed at night
Gatbsy was a clam digger, a salmon fisher, and janitor
Daisy arrives into the party and only enjoys it for the moments that she danced with Gatsby
"desolate path of fruit rinds and discarded favors and crushed flowers" - all of Gatsby's hopes and dreams on the floor of the party
Nick thinks of Gatsby's greatness but being realistic that Gatsby is being nonsensical

The Great Gatsby pages: 87-103

Nick sets up Gatsby and Daisy up to eat cake and tea together
Nick leaves, comes back and Daisy is now crying
Gatsby is smiling
They visit Gatsby's house
Daisy cries at the sight of Gatsby 's eccentric clothing (implying how sad she was, of what she lost)
weather might've implied sadness then joy corresponding with the rain and sun respectively
